What an unnoticed miracle the breath is. It is effortless. You didn’t ask for it. You didn’t will it. You didn’t work for it. You need it, and it’s there. You need it to carry away what you can’t use, and there it goes. What if it mirrors how so many of the things you need in life arise spontaneously, right when you need them? This meditation always helps me appreciate the quiet gift of the breath. I am indebted to Sam Harris for this concept.
